Meet Peter and Sandra
I was first introduced to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) by a friend and colleague I worked alongside approximately six years ago. Since this time I have been on a journey of learning and embedding the life changing process of NVC in both my professional and personal life. NVC has, in essence, revolutionised the way I communicate.
I have experienced a paradigm shift away from my default of communicating in a violent manner e.g. defensive, passive/aggressive, blame centered e.g. “right/wrong” to a nonviolent manner built on self empathy, empathy for others, curiosity of seeking to understand and following the principles of observation, needs, feelings and requests.
This has indeed been a life changing event. During the process of embedding NVC in my life I have attended a number of professional development courses. I have built my expertise in this area and I willingly and openly share with others.
Throughout my career I have held a number of leadership and facilitation roles across a range of trusts and organisations where communication was an integral part. Please feel free to contact me for more information about how my expertise can be applied to your organsation, family or business.
Over the past 30 years, I have studied, worked in and developed services within the sectors of child protection, special education and health and disability services in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Through professional and academic involvement in these services, I have gained a sound knowledge of each of their unique complexities. So I can work with ease across sectors, helping individuals experience positive outcomes.
I thrive on challenges, finding solutions and celebrating success with others. I take time to reflect on my work practice; seek new knowledge; be open to new concepts. I embrace differences and demonstrate core values of empathy, honesty, integrity and respect.
My life and work have been profoundly impacted in caring for my two daughters who both have disabilities. This experience has helped shape my attitudes, philosophy, understanding and compassion.
